Money is where you record money coming in, prepare and approve payouts, and match them to your bank. Open Money in the sidebar and choose Payouts or Transactions. Ledger and Accounting are tabs on the same page.
The Tabs
- Transactions: every payment in and payout, with its status. Filter by Direction, Status and Investment, and click Details on a row. See What Do Payment Statuses Mean?
- Payouts: each payout run. Click Review to approve it or pay it. See How Do I Run a Distribution?
- Ledger: the journal entries posted to your books, newest first, with their debit and credit totals. Each one shows Balanced. You can't edit them here. Use Prepare Correction under Accounting Tools.
- Accounting: bank matching, closing the books, cash controls, receipts and schedules. See How Do I Reconcile the Bank and Close the Books?
The Buttons
- Record Payment In: prepare a payment from an investor. See How Do I Record a Payment From an Investor?
- Disburse: work out a payout and send it by ACH in one step. See How Do I Send Payouts by ACH?
- Bank Files (NACHA): pay approved payouts through your own bank. See How Do I Create a NACHA File?
- Export Payment List: download a CSV of every payment with its amounts, status, mode and reference. It covers the whole workspace and ignores your filters.
- Record Selected Settlements: on Transactions, tick approved payouts your bank already paid, then enter one Settlement Date and a Bank Reference for each in Record Selected Payout Settlements. It doesn't send money. Payouts in an ACH batch, NACHA file, wire batch or check run aren't offered here.
Bank Files (NACHA) and settlement take Finance Approver permission. The other buttons take permission to prepare payments and payouts. See Who Has to Approve Payments, Banks and Payouts?
Messages at the Top
- ACH Not Set Up: you can't collect or pay by ACH until your company is verified and a bank account is approved. Until then, use wire, check or a NACHA file. Click Set Up ACH to finish. See How Do I Set Up and Verify Our Moov Account?
- Test Payments: no bank or payment provider is connected, and status changes are tests. Open a payment's Details to simulate its bank result.
Needs Attention
On Transactions, the Needs Attention panel lists failed or returned transfers, batches waiting for approval, and settlement bank accounts that need deposits or review. It appears only when there's something to show. See Why Did an ACH Transfer Fail or Get Returned?
