How Do Capital Call Reminders Work?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

How Syndelo emails investors who still owe on a capital call, on a schedule you set, and how to send one yourself.

Syndelo can email investors before and after a capital call's due date until they pay. Reminders only go to investing accounts that still owe. Anyone who has paid, or whose payment is on its way (for example, an ACH payment that hasn't cleared yet), is skipped.

Set Your Workspace Schedule

  1. Go to Money, then Capital Calls.
  2. Under Reminder Schedule, click Edit Schedule.
  3. Turn on Send Automatic Reminders and tick the days to send. Days are counted from the due date, for example 7 Days Before, On the Due Date, 3 Days After and 10 Days After.
  4. Click Save Schedule.

Every issued capital call follows this schedule unless the call sets its own. New workspaces start with reminders 7 days before, on the due date, and 3 and 10 days after. Workspaces created before reminders existed start with them off.

Reminders go out after 8 a.m. in your workspace's time zone. If a reminder day was missed by more than 3 days, for example because reminders were turned on after that day, it is skipped rather than sent late.

Change Reminders for One Call

Open the call from the investment's Capital Calls tab. Under Reminders, click Change and choose Follow the Workspace Schedule, Use Different Days for This Call, or No Automatic Reminders for This Call. The section also shows the next reminder date.

Send a Reminder Now

In the call, tick the boxes beside the investors (or Select Everyone Who Still Owes) and click Send Reminder, or click Send Reminder on one investor's row. You can also send one from the Past Due Payments list on the Capital Calls page. Syndelo skips anyone who has paid or has a payment on its way, and tells you how many it skipped.

What Investors Receive

Each person with access to the investing account in the portal gets the Capital Call Reminder email. It says how much is still owed, the due date, and whether the payment is due soon or how many days late it is, with a Fund Now link to their portal. They also get a notification in the portal. You can reword the email in Settings, System Email Templates. See How Do I Edit the Emails Syndelo Sends Automatically?

Where Reminders Are Logged

Each reminder is logged once per call, investing account and reminder day, so the same reminder is never sent twice. You'll see it:

  • In the call's Activity list, with who sent it (or Automatic).
  • On the investor's profile, in the Activity timeline, and the email itself under Emails.
  • In the Email Log.

The investor table in the call shows when each investor was last reminded.
