Failed and returned transfers show in the Needs Attention panel on Bank Transfers (ACH). Each line shows the investor, amount, status, and the bank's failure code and reason when the provider sent one.
Steps
- Go to Money > Bank Transfers (ACH).
- Read the Needs Attention panel. Each failed or returned transfer lists its failure code, for example
(R01: ...). - To narrow the list, use the Transfers filters: set Status to Failed or Returned, and Direction to Payments In or Payouts.
- For a payout, open the payout on Money and review it. A team member with Finance Approver permission can click Retry, then Retry Payment, on a piece that can be retried.
- For a payment in, check the bank outcome before you ask the investor for a new debit.
Good to know
- Syndelo does not retry transfers on its own. Only confirmed failed or returned payout pieces can be retried.
- Result unknown—needs a check means Syndelo does not know whether the bank accepted the transfer. Check it with the provider before approving another payment, or you risk paying twice.
- No ACH transfer was sent with a cash-controls message means the payment was blocked before it left. Check the chosen bank link, cash set aside, and statement date in Cash Controls, then prepare a new approval.
- Submission blocked or a provider check message means the provider setup or limits stopped the transfer. See ACH Contract Limits and Moov Account Setup.
- Common causes of returns are a closed account, wrong account number, or insufficient funds. Ask the investor to update their payout bank. See Review a Bank Instruction Change.
- Before you close the books, failed and returned payments in may need a resolution. See Resolve Payment Issues Before Closing.
- To pay someone outside ACH instead, use Switch to Manual on the payout. See Send Payouts by ACH.
Syndelo is in preview. eSign and investor payments require live provider setup; a demo or sandbox action does not complete a live transaction. Confirm availability for your workspace before relying on either.
