What Do ACH Transfer Statuses Mean?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

What each status on the Bank Transfers (ACH) page means and where the totals come from.

Every ACH payment in and payout appears on Bank Transfers (ACH) with one of five statuses: Pending, Processed, Failed, Returned, or Cancelled.

Steps

  1. Go to Money > Bank Transfers (ACH).
  2. Check the totals at the top: Pending (transfers in flight), Processed, and Needs Attention (failed or returned transfers, batches to approve, and accounts to review).
  3. In Transfers, filter by Direction, Status, Investment, From, and To. Click Refresh to reload.
  4. Scroll to Provider Events to see the signed status updates the provider sent.

Status meanings

  • Pending: sent to the bank network, final result not yet known.
  • Processed: the bank network completed the transfer.
  • Failed: the transfer did not go through.
  • Returned: the transfer completed, then the receiving bank sent it back.
  • Cancelled: stopped before it was sent.

Good to know

  • The Type column shows Payment In (debit) or Payout (credit). Try 2 or higher means it is a retry.
  • A processed transfer can still be returned later.
  • Provider Events only shows signed events. Unsigned or tampered events are rejected and never shown.
  • In a sandbox workspace, a Simulate Processed, Simulate Failed, or Simulate Returned button lets you test outcomes. No real money moves.
  • Recording a settlement for a non-ACH payment on Money does not create a transfer here. See Record a Payment From an Investor.
  • For failed and returned transfers, see Why Did an ACH Transfer Fail or Get Returned?.

Syndelo is in preview. eSign and investor payments require live provider setup; a demo or sandbox action does not complete a live transaction. Confirm availability for your workspace before relying on either.
