Accounting Tools is the menu at the top of the Accounting tab, after you choose an Investment. Each tool prepares a request. Nothing changes until someone else approves it under Waiting for Review on Close the Books. If no one else in your workspace can approve, you can approve it yourself after confirming your password and a code. None of these tools move money.
You need permission to prepare payments and payouts to see the menu.
Prepare Correction
Posts one debit and one credit to fix the books.
- Click Prepare Correction.
- Enter the Start Date, Debit Account, Credit Account, Amount (USD) and Correction Reason. The two accounts must be different.
- If either account is investor capital, choose the Investing Account (Required for Capital).
- Click Prepare for Review.
The date can't fall in a closed period. Accounts with recorded capital refunds, and receipts tracked in Money Not Yet Assigned, must go through their own review instead.
Review Bank Timing
Marks a cash entry that's on the books but hasn't reached the bank yet, such as a check that hasn't cleared.
- Import the bank statement first.
- Click Review Bank Timing.
- Choose the Cash Posting, Bank Reference and Expected Bank Clearance. The clearance date must be after the entry and within 90 days.
- Enter the Reason and Supporting Proof, choose a Supporting Document, and click Prepare for Review.
This doesn't change the entry or clear a failed payment. Overdue items that stay unresolved block a later close.
Map Accounting Codes
Sets the code and name your own chart of accounts uses for each Syndelo account. These codes appear in review packs, and QuickBooks uses them to suggest matches.
Click Map Accounting Codes, enter the Start Date and Mapping Reason, fill in the External Code and External Name for every account, and click Prepare for Review. A new mapping can't start before the current one.
Review Internal Cash Offsets
Clears cash entries that cancel each other out and never touched the bank.
- Click Review Internal Cash Offsets.
- Enter a Review Reason.
- Tick entries from the same date that net to zero.
- Click Prepare for Review.
Reject or Cancel a Request
The preparer can click Cancel Request while it's pending. A reviewer can click Reject Request. Both ask for a reason, and the request stays in the history. An approved request can only be changed with a correction or by reopening the period.
