How Do I Invest in an Opportunity?

For InvestorsBy Syndelo

The steps investors follow to apply for an investment in the portal.

Open Investments, then Opportunities, choose a raise, and choose Invest Now. The portal walks you through each step, and you can save and finish later.

Your sponsor decides which raises you can see and which steps are required.

Find a raise

Opportunities has Open, Upcoming, and Closed tabs. Each card shows the minimum and key figures.

  • Open raises show Invest Now.
  • Upcoming raises show Reserve, so you can hold a place before the raise opens. When it opens, your reservation fills in your application.

Invest again in one tap

If you have invested with this sponsor before, open raises show Invest Again With your account and your last amount. It starts an application with the same account, class and amount, fills in your earlier answers, and takes you straight to Review. Choose Choose a Different Account or Amount on the raise page to start from the beginning instead.

Application steps

The exact steps depend on the raise. Steps that are already done are skipped. You may see:

  1. Class: choose how you want to invest, if there is more than one option.
  2. Amount: choose the Investing Account you are investing through, or create a new one, and enter the Investment Amount (USD). The minimum, maximum, and any step size are shown.
  3. Account Details: the legal details that go on your investment forms. If they are already complete, this step is skipped and your tax ID shows as on file. You can use Fill From a Document to read them from a trust certificate, operating agreement, EIN letter, W-9 or ID.
  4. Accreditation: if the raise requires it, verify online or upload a letter without leaving your application. See How Do I Verify I'm an Accredited Investor?
  5. Questions: answer your sponsor's questions. Answers you gave this sponsor before are filled in for you. Check them and choose These Answers Are Still Correct, or change anything that's out of date.
  6. Review: check everything, tick any acknowledgments, then choose Submit Application. Submitting does not move any money.
  7. Sign Documents: sign each document in order. You can sign while your accreditation is still being checked.
  8. Funding: see how to send your money.

You can change the amount until you submit. To use a different account, start a new application.

After you submit

Your sponsor reviews your application and will contact you with questions. Your Home page shows what needs you under Needs Your Attention: applications to finish, changes your sponsor asked for, documents to sign, accreditation still needed, and money still to send (with How to Fund). Each one shows its progress: Applied, Accreditation, Signed, Funded and Joined.

You can see all your applications and their status under Your Applications on the Opportunities page. Choose View Application to open one.

Full raises and waitlists

If a raise has reached its target, you can still apply and join the waitlist in order. You can sign once your sponsor lets you in.
