What Are Funding Sources?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

How to record where an investor's money comes from and the bank details used for their payouts.

A funding source records where an investing account's money comes from, such as cash, a retirement plan, or a custodian. Each source can also hold the ACH and wire details used to pay that investor.

Add a funding source

  1. Go to Money > Funding Sources (Funding Sources).
  2. Click Add Funding Source.
  3. Choose the Linked Individual / Entity, Source Type, and Source Nickname. Add the Institution / Custodian, Registered Account Owner / Custodial Title, and optionally the Last Four Digits (Optional). Never enter full account numbers here.
  4. Save.

Adding a source by hand does not link a bank or approve transfers. Use Toggle Archived to show archived sources.

Payout bank instructions

The Payments Out column shows whether ACH and wire details are added and verified. Changing or removing them is a request (Request Bank Instruction Change or Request Bank Instruction Removal). The current details stay in use until a different team member with Finance Approver permission verifies the change through a trusted contact method. Viewing full instructions requires confirming your identity.

When you record a payment in, you can pick the funding source it came from.
