Why Can't I Invest in a Raise?

For InvestorsBy Syndelo

Common reasons the portal blocks an application and what to do about each.

Most blocks come from the raise's rules: it is not open, your amount is outside the limits, an accreditation check is required, or you are not allowed to act for the account. The portal shows a message explaining which.

Common messages

  • "This raise is not open yet. Reserve your place instead." The raise is Upcoming. Choose Reserve.
  • "This raise is not accepting subscriptions." The raise is closed or paused. Check the Closed tab or ask your sponsor.
  • "The minimum is $X." / "The maximum is $X." / "Use steps of $X." Change the Investment Amount (USD) to fit the limits shown under the field.
  • "This account already has an application for this raise." Open it under Your Applications, or use a different investing account.
  • "You are not authorized to invest for this account." You can view the account but not invest for it. Ask the account owner or your sponsor for investing access.
  • "No closing is accepting new applications. Contact your sponsor." The current round is closed.
  • "This class is not accepting new applications." Choose a different Class if one is offered.
  • "Tell us whether this account is an accredited investor." Answer the Accreditation step.
  • "Your sponsor must approve your portal access before you can add accounts." Wait for approval after signing up.

Good to know

  • If the raise requires verified accreditation, you can submit and sign while it is checked. Your sponsor accepts your pledge after it is verified, and most raises wait for verification before you send funds. See How Do I Verify I'm an Accredited Investor?
  • If you can't see a raise at all, your sponsor has not shared it with you.
  • If a full raise shows a waitlist message, see How Does the Waitlist Work?
