You pick who is investing on the Account Details step of an application. Choose an existing Investing Account, or choose New Investing Account and set the Account Type to the right kind of owner.
Steps
- Open Opportunities, choose a raise, and choose Invest Now.
- On the Account Details step, choose an Investing Account, or choose New Investing Account.
- For a new account, enter an Account Name (for example, "Rivera Family Trust") and choose the Account Type: Individual, Joint, Trust, LLC, Corporation, or Retirement.
- Choose Create Account, then fill in the legal details and choose Save and Continue.
What each type asks for
Every type needs a legal name, SSN or EIN, Street Address, City, State, and ZIP Code. Some types need more:
- Joint: Joint Holder’s Full Name.
- Trust: Authorized Signer and Signer Title (for Example, Trustee).
- LLC or Corporation: State of Formation, Authorized Signer, and Signer Title.
- Retirement (such as a self-directed IRA): Custodian and Authorized Signer.
For entities, the form says Legal Entity Name instead of Full Legal Name. These details go on your investment forms, so they must match your tax records.
Good to know
- The account type is locked once the account has applied or invested. If it is wrong, contact your sponsor.
- You need your sponsor to approve your portal access before you can add accounts.
- If you add several accounts in one day, the portal asks you to contact your sponsor before adding more.
- Each investing account can have one application per raise. To invest through two accounts, start a separate application for each.
- For a retirement account, your custodian may need to sign or send the money. Check with them before you submit.
