How Do I Update My Address, Phone, or Tax ID?

Where investors can correct the legal details on an investing account and when they need their sponsor to do it.

You can edit an investing account's legal details, including address, phone, and SSN or EIN, on the Account Details step of an application that is still open for edits. After that, ask your sponsor to update them.

Steps

  1. Open Opportunities and scroll to Your Applications.
  2. Choose View Application on a draft application, or one where your sponsor requested changes.
  3. Go to the Account Details step.
  4. Update Street Address, Apartment, Suite or Unit, City, State, ZIP Code, Country, or Phone.
  5. To change your tax ID, enter the new nine digits in SSN or EIN. If you leave it blank, the saved ID (shown as "Saved ID ends in ...") is kept.
  6. Choose Save and Continue.

Good to know

  • You can only edit while the application is a Draft or has Changes Requested. Once it is submitted, the fields are read-only.
  • If the portal says "These account details changed. Refresh before saving.", someone else updated the account. Reload the page and try again.
  • The Account Type cannot change after the account has applied or invested.
  • Enter the SSN or EIN as nine digits, for example 123-45-6789 or 12-3456789.
  • Changing your details here does not change forms you already signed. Ask your sponsor if a signed document needs correcting.
