Accredited Investor Verifications (Accredd)

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

How third-party accreditation checks work in Syndelo, what they cost, how to turn them on, and what your team and investors receive.

Syndelo can verify that an investor is accredited through its built-in integration with Accredd, an independent third-party provider. The investor uploads their proof in the portal, Accredd reviews it, and the accreditation letter comes back into Syndelo automatically.

Cost: $99 per successful verification. Failed verifications are not billed, and neither are letters your team reviews.

What It Does

Accreditation confirms that an investor meets the SEC's accredited investor rules under Regulation D. Instead of reviewing tax returns and financial statements yourself, Syndelo sends the investor's submission to Accredd, which reviews it and issues a formal letter you can keep on file.

Turn It On

  1. Open Workspace Settings and choose Investor Setup under Investor Experience.
  2. In the Investor Accreditation panel, read the billing note.
  3. Tick I Agree to Pay $99 per Successful Verification.
  4. Choose Turn On Verification.

An owner or admin must agree to the fee. Syndelo records who agreed and when. If the price ever changes, you are asked to agree again before new checks can start. The same panel is also under Integrations.

To stop new checks, choose Pause Verification. Existing records, letters, and status checks stay available.

Request a Verification

Investors can start a check themselves from Accreditation in the portal or during an application, so you do not always need to ask. To ask one directly:

  1. Go to Investors and open the investor.
  2. On the Overview tab, click Account Accreditation on the investing account.
  3. Click Send Verification Request.

Syndelo emails everyone who can invest through that account a link to sign in and verify. You can click Resend Verification Request later; the page shows when you last asked. If nobody can invest through the account yet, invite the investor to the portal first.

What the Investor Provides

The investor chooses how they qualify and uploads the matching documents. Verifications can be done for an Individual or an Entity. The common individual methods are:

  • Income: more than $200,000 a year individually, or $300,000 jointly, for the past two years. The investor enters their income and uploads documents such as W-2s, 1099s, or K-1s.
  • Net Worth: more than $1 million, excluding the primary residence. The investor enters their net worth and uploads asset and liability statements.
  • Professional License: a current Series 7, 65, or 82 license, confirmed with the professional's CRD number.
  • Professional Verification Letter: a letter from a CPA, attorney, broker-dealer, or registered investment adviser.

How Results Come Back

Results usually take 1 to 2 business days. Syndelo checks for the result automatically, so there is nothing to refresh. When a check is Verified, Syndelo saves the letter to the account's record, where your team and the investor can choose Download Letter.

Emails

Syndelo sends these automatically. You can reword them under System Email Templates.

  • Your team: when a check is submitted, when a letter is uploaded for review, and when a check is approved, not approved, or expires. Approved emails attach the letter.
  • Investors: when you send a request, and when their check is approved, not approved, or expires. Approved emails attach the letter, and emails for failed checks include the reviewer's reason.
  • Both: renewal reminders 60, 30, and 5 days before expiration, and on the day it expires.

Billing

  • You pay $99 for each check Accredd verifies. A failed check costs nothing, and the investor can try again.
  • Charges for a month are added on the 1st of the next month and appear as Investor Accreditation Verifications on your Syndelo bill.
  • On a monthly plan they appear on your next invoice. On an annual plan they are invoiced separately right away, so you are not waiting for your renewal.
  • Workspaces under one account share one bill.
  • Investors never pay Syndelo for a check.

Expiration and Renewal

A verification lasts until the expiration date Accredd returns, usually 5 years. While an account has a valid verification, Syndelo will not start a duplicate. After it expires, start a new check or send a new request.

Uploaded Letters

An investor can upload a letter from a CPA, attorney, broker-dealer, or registered investment adviser instead. Accredd doesn't review these. Your team does, it costs nothing, and someone other than the person who uploaded the letter must review it.

Test Mode

If the badge says Accredd Test Mode, checks go to Accredd's sandbox. Use sample documents only. Test results are never billed and never count as live proof of accreditation, and their emails start with [Test].
