Why Can't I Publish My Signing Template?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

Common reasons a signing template won't publish, and how to fix each one.

A template publishes only when it has at least one field, its files have finished processing, and its signing roles still match. Open the template from the Templates tab in Signing and check the message at the top.

The Publish Button Is Off

  • The template has no fields yet. Click Place Fields, add them, then save and close the editor. If they don't appear, click Refresh Fields.
  • A publish is already running. Wait a moment and reload.
  • You have view-only access. Creating and publishing templates needs document edit access.

Common Messages

  • The document is still being prepared. Refresh in a moment.: the file is still processing. Click Refresh Fields and try again.
  • Every template file must finish processing before publishing.: same cause. Wait, then try again.
  • Keep the original signing roles. Create a new template to change its signers.: a role was added, renamed, or removed in the editor. Put it back, or create a new template with the roles you want.
  • Remove copied recipients; Syndelo binds every signer to an authorized account.: remove the copied recipient in the editor.
  • Conditional signing rules must be removed before this template can be published.: remove the rule in the editor.
  • This template fills in the full tax ID. Your role does not allow viewing full tax IDs.: choose Tax ID (Last Four) in Fill From, or ask someone whose role allows full tax IDs to publish it.
  • This template is being published. Try again in a moment.: someone clicked publish. Wait, then reload.

Good to Know

  • A warning that fields have no source doesn't stop publishing. Investors who sign in the investment wizard see those fields blank, so pick a source or remove them in the editor.
  • A template with only a Word file works the same way, but Place Signatures and Fields for Me reads PDFs only. Place the fields yourself.
  • If signing isn't set up on your workspace yet, the Templates tab says so. You can upload a template and add its fields later.
