How Do I Set a Unit Value (NAV) for a Fund?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

How to record and approve a fund class's unit value so subscriptions and cash-outs can be priced.

Unit values price requests to buy and sell fund units. Record them in Valuation History on the fund's Fund Operations page. A second person approves each one.

Steps

  1. Open the investment, go to the Overview tab, and click Open Fund Operations.
  2. In Valuation History, click Set Unit Value.
  3. Choose the Share Class and Valuation Date.
  4. Enter Class Net Assets and the Valuation Basis.
  5. For a class with no issued units yet, enter an Opening Unit Price. Opening net assets must be zero.
  6. Save. The value shows as Draft.
  7. A different Finance Approver clicks Approve. Use Discard to delete a draft.

Good to know

  • Only Approved values can be picked when approving a trade.
  • Prices show to six decimal places per unit.
  • How Long Unit Values Stay Valid (Days) in the fund terms limits how old a value can be when used.
  • Trades show Waiting for Unit Value until they are approved with a price.
  • Reinvested payouts in unit-priced classes also use an approved unit value.
