How Do I Set Up the Questionnaire and Investor Steps?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

How to choose the steps investors go through and the questions they answer when they apply.

Investor Steps controls which steps investors complete when they apply. The questionnaire holds the questions they answer. Both are set per raise.

Edit the investor steps

  1. Open the raise and go to the Setup tab.
  2. In Investor Steps, click Edit Steps.
  3. Choose the steps:
    • Let Investors Reserve a Spot Before the Raise Opens
    • Accreditation: Not required, Required: verified before the pledge is accepted, or a limited mode allowing a capped number of non-accredited investors (506(b) only), with a Non-Accredited Limit
    • Questionnaire
    • Document Signing
    • Funding Instructions
  4. Optionally check Stop at the Target and Start a Waitlist and Create the Pledge Automatically When the Application Is Approved and Every Document Is Signed.
  5. When accreditation is required, optionally check Accept Funds Before Accreditation Is Verified for escrow-style raises. It's off by default, so investors send funds after they're verified.
  6. Save.

506(c) raises must verify every investor before you accept them. If you switch a raise from 506(b) to 506(c), Syndelo changes Accreditation to Required for you and tells you so. Investors can submit and sign while their accreditation is checked; the pledge and joining wait for verification. Changes apply to new applications; existing applications keep their saved requirements.

Edit the questionnaire

  1. Open the raise and go to the Setup tab.
  2. In Investor Questionnaire, click Edit Questions.
  3. Add, edit, reorder, or remove questions. For each question, you can limit it to certain Account Types or set Conditional Display to show it only when another answer matches.
  4. Click Save Questions.

New raises start with an optional experience question and a required risk acknowledgment. Syndelo doesn't ask how the investor is investing: the investing account's type already says that. When an account applies again, its answers to matching questions from its last application with you are filled in for the investor to confirm.

Each application keeps the question version it started with. A new raise can copy its questions from an earlier raise with Copy Setup From.

Application rules

Investors always confirm their saved account details when they apply. You can't turn this off. Under Advanced Settings at the bottom of the Setup tab, Application Rules → Edit Rules sets Ask Investors to Confirm Their Details Again After (Days) and an optional Application Deadline (Your Local Time, Optional).

Documents to sign

The Document Sequence panel sets which signing templates investors sign. See How Do I Send a Subscription Agreement for Signature?.

Syndelo is in preview. eSign and investor payments require live provider setup; a demo or sandbox action does not complete a live transaction. Confirm availability for your workspace before relying on either.
