A lead form is a short form people fill out on your website, or from a link you send, to tell you they're interested in investing. They don't need an account or a password. Each submission becomes an inbound lead for your team to follow up on.
Find everything under Investments, then Inbound Leads. Each raise also has an Inbound Leads tab on its investment page.
Create a Lead Form
- Go to Investments, then Inbound Leads, and click New Lead Form.
- Give the form a Form Name (only your team sees it) and, if you like, a heading and introduction for visitors.
- Under Fields, choose what to ask. First name, last name and email are always asked. You can also show Phone, State or Country, Investor Type, Amount Interested, Accredited Investor and Message, and make any of them required.
- Under Your Own Questions, add up to five questions, such as how they heard about you. Answers can be short text, a paragraph, multiple choice, or yes or no.
- Under Where Leads Go:
- Choose a Raise if the form is for one offering. Turn on Add New Leads Straight to This Raise’s Pipeline to give each person a card in the raise's first stage right away.
- Choose a Lead Source, such as Website. It's saved on each lead, and on new contacts. Manage the list in Settings, Lead Sources.
- Choose who new leads are assigned to, and which teammates hear about them.
- Under After Someone Sends It, show a thank-you message or send people to a page on your website.
- Under Consent, write the note shown above the Send button, and choose whether to offer a marketing email checkbox.
- Click Create Form.
You can have several forms, for example one for your website and one for each raise. To stop a form taking submissions, open its menu and click Turn Off. A form with leads can't be deleted, so its leads keep showing where they came from.
Put the Form on Your Website or Share It
After you create a form, Syndelo shows how to share it. To see this again, open the Lead Forms tab and click Share.
- Link: the form on its own page at your portal's web address, including your own domain if you set one up. Put it behind a button on your website, or send it by email or text.
- Embed Code: paste it into an HTML or embed block on your website. The form sizes itself to fit your page, and Syndelo records which page each lead came from, along with any UTM tags in that page's address (like utm_source and utm_campaign).
The form uses your brand color and logo from Settings.
What Happens When Someone Sends It
- Syndelo finds the contact with the same email in your workspace, or adds a new contact. It only fills in details the contact is missing, so a form never overwrites what your team already has.
- A new lead appears in Inbound Leads with the status New.
- The teammates you chose, and the assignee, get a notification in Syndelo and an email. If you chose nobody, everyone who can edit investors sees a notification in Syndelo.
- If the form puts people straight into a pipeline, they get a card in the raise's first stage and the lead shows as Converted. Someone already in that raise's pipeline isn't added twice.
- Syndelo keeps a copy of the consent wording the person saw and whether they ticked the marketing box. New contacts who leave it unticked don't get campaign emails.
Lead forms check that a person, not a bot, sent the form, and limit how often one visitor or one form can send.
Work the Inbound Leads Queue
The Leads tab lists everyone who sent a form, newest first: name, amount interested, status, lead source, form, raise, date added and who it's assigned to. Use Open, New, Contacted, Converted, Dismissed and All to switch views, and Filter to narrow by status, assignee, lead source or form.
Click a name to see their answers, the consent record, the page and referrer they came from, and any UTM tags. From there you can assign them, Mark Contacted, Dismiss or Reopen, and open their contact record.
To act on several leads at once, tick them and choose Convert, Assign, Mark Contacted, Dismiss or Reopen.
Convert a Lead Into the Pipeline
- Open the lead and click Convert to Opportunity, or tick several leads and click Convert.
- Choose the Raise and the Stage. Stages that follow pledges, signatures or funding fill in on their own later, so they can't be chosen here.
- For a single lead, check the Expected Amount. It starts at the amount they entered.
- Click Convert.
The lead links to its new opportunity and to the contact. If the person already has an opportunity in that raise, the lead links to it instead of adding a second one. The opportunity's source shows Investor Filled Out a Lead Form. To list these opportunities, filter the pipeline grid by Source, Lead Form.
Who Can Do What
Anyone on your team can see lead forms and leads. Changing forms, assigning, converting and other lead actions need permission to edit investors (the Owner, Admin and Investor Relations roles have it).
For Developers
Lead forms and leads are in the API and the AI connector. A Lead Form Submitted webhook (lead.created) is sent for each new lead. See How Do I Send Events to Another System With Webhooks?
