How Do I Send Events to My Systems With Webhooks?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

Add an HTTPS endpoint that receives signed events, such as a cleared payment or a signed agreement, and check every delivery.

Webhooks tell your own systems when something happens in Syndelo, so you don't have to keep asking the API. Open Settings and choose API Access under Connections. Webhooks are included with the Growth and Scale plans, and managing them requires permission to edit workspace settings.

Add an Endpoint

  1. Under Webhooks, click Add Endpoint.
  2. Enter the Endpoint URL. It must be a public https:// address.
  3. Add a Description if it helps your team, and tick the events you want.
  4. Click Add Endpoint, then copy the signing secret. It is shown only once.

Click Send Test Event to send a webhook.test event right away and see the response.

Events

  • Contact Added (contact.created) and Contact Changed (contact.updated)
  • Application Submitted (application.submitted), Agreement Signed (agreement.signed), and Pledge Accepted (pledge.accepted)
  • Capital Call Issued (capital_call.issued) and Payment In Cleared (payment_in.cleared)
  • Payout Approved (payout.approved) and Payout Paid (payout.paid)
  • Document Shared (document.published) and Update Published (update.published)

Each event is a small JSON body with its id, type, api_version, created_at, workspace_id, and a data object with record IDs, amounts in integer cents, and dates. Events never include bank details or tax IDs. The developer guide lists every field.

Check the Signature

Every delivery has a Syndelo-Signature header like t=1793635200,v1=5f2b…. To check it, put the t value, a period, and the raw request body together, and compute an HMAC-SHA256 of that text with your signing secret. It must match a v1 value. Also reject any delivery whose t is more than five minutes old. The developer guide has a code example.

Deliveries and Retries

Your endpoint should answer with any 2xx status within 10 seconds. Anything else is retried with growing waits: 1 minute, 4 minutes, 16 minutes, about an hour, 4 hours, 17 hours, and then a day, up to 8 attempts over about two days. Retries and redeliveries keep the same event ID, so use the Syndelo-Event-Id header to ignore duplicates.

Click View Deliveries on an endpoint to see the last 30 days. Each delivery shows its status, the response code, and how long it took. Click Details to see the request and the response, then Redeliver to send it again.

If every attempt to an endpoint fails for 24 hours (at least 8 in a row), Syndelo turns it off and emails your workspace owners. Fix the endpoint, open More, and choose Turn On. Then redeliver anything you missed.

Rotate or Remove

Open More on an endpoint to Edit Endpoint, Rotate Secret, Turn Off, or Remove Endpoint. After a rotation, the new secret signs right away and the old one keeps signing alongside it for 24 hours, so you can update your server without missing events.
