How Do I Review and Approve Investor Applications?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

How to review a subscription application, approve several at once, or let complete ones approve automatically.

Applications appear on the raise's Investors tab. Needs Your Action at the top counts applications to review, documents to countersign, funds to confirm, and investors ready to join. Each count links to its list.

Review an application

The review window shows the investor's class, Investor Rule Checks status, document status, and questionnaire answers, plus application history.

  1. Under Review Decision, choose:
    • Approve Review · Move to Documents
    • Request Changes: check the questions under Information Requested and optionally set a Requested Response Date (Optional)
    • Decline Application
  2. Add a Note to the Investor. It is required unless you approve.
  3. Click Save Review.

Approval does not mark the application as signed or funded.

Approve several at once

Applications to Review marks an application Complete when every required answer is filled in, the amount is within the class limits, accreditation is verified where the raise requires it, and the account details are current. Anything else shows what needs a look.

  1. Check the complete applications, or click Select Every Complete Application.
  2. Click Approve Selected.

Each application is approved and recorded on its own. Any that changed in the meantime are skipped and listed, and the rest still go through.

Approve automatically

In Pledge Flow on the raise's Setup tab, click Edit Flow and check Approve Applications Automatically When Every Rule Passes. It is off by default. An application is approved without a review only when:

  • accreditation is verified, where the raise requires it,
  • every required answer is filled in,
  • the amount is within the class limits,
  • the raise has no eligibility rules a sponsor reviews, and
  • the account details are complete and someone on the account may invest.

Each automatic approval is recorded in the activity history. Until the pledge is accepted, you can click Send Back for Review under Approved Automatically to review it yourself. Joining is never automatic.

After approval

  • If the raise has a document sequence, investors sign in the investment wizard. There is nothing to prepare or send. Click Open Investment Agreement to see the agreement once they start.
  • Older raises without a document sequence can still prepare the agreement from the review window with Prepare Draft Agreement, then send it from Signing.

The pledge

New raises accept the pledge automatically once the application is approved and every required document is signed. There is no separate step, and nothing is marked as paid.

To accept each pledge by hand instead, uncheck Accept the Pledge Automatically When the Application Is Approved and Every Document Is Signed under Edit Flow. Someone with finance permission then sees Accept This Pledge in the review window:

  1. Check I Reviewed This Application and Approve Its Exact Amount and Class.
  2. Click Accept Pledge.

This does not mark funds as received. If the raise's investor steps create pledges automatically, this happens once the application is approved and every document is signed.

Accreditation letters

The Investor Rule Checks Letters to Review panel on the Investors tab lists letters investors uploaded as proof. Approve or reject each one and set a Valid Until (Approve Only) date.
