Why Can't I Delete or Replace a Document?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

Why Syndelo refuses to delete, replace, or restore a file, and what to do about each message.

Syndelo keeps any file that's part of a financial, legal, or review record. Deleting moves a file to Deleted Documents, and it's refused when another record depends on that file. You also need document edit access to see Document Actions at all.

Why Delete Is Refused

  • This file is on hold. A separate reviewer must release each hold first.: open File Holds on the file. See How Do I Keep or Permanently Delete Files?.
  • Keep the original and corrected tax files.: the file is part of a tax correction.
  • Keep files used for a sponsor review.: the file is evidence for a sponsor rule review.
  • Keep original migrated files as source evidence.: the file came from a data move.
  • Retain the executed application release document.: the file records an investor leaving an application.
  • This file is part of a published offering. Retain its original evidence.: the file belongs to a published raise.
  • Other messages that start with Retain mean the same thing: the file backs a signed or financial record, so it stays.

Why Replace Is Refused

Why Restore Is Refused

  • A replacement is available. Remove that version before restoring this one.: a newer version is in the library. Delete it first, or keep it.
  • Another version is active. Remove that version before restoring this one.: same cause, for an earlier version.
  • This file has been approved for permanent deletion and cannot be restored.: the deletion can't be undone.
