What Roles and Permissions Are Available?

For SponsorsBy Syndelo

The built-in team roles, how to create custom roles, and how to change a team member's role.

Every team member has one role in each workspace. Syndelo has built-in roles, and workspace owners can also create custom roles with exactly the permissions you need.

Built-in roles

  • Owner: full control of the workspace, including billing. Owners are the only people who can create roles, change role assignments, or grant access to another workspace.
  • Admin
  • Investor Relations
  • Finance Preparer
  • Finance Approver
  • Viewer
  • Investor: a portal login for investors, not a team role.

All team roles can view workspace records. Money actions still need approval from a second person with access. If you're the only person who can approve, you can approve your own work after confirming your password and a code.

Roles decide who can prepare or approve an action. To decide how many people must approve it, or to require an owner, use approval rules. See What Are Approval Rules?

Create a custom role

Only owners can do this.

  1. Open Settings and choose Roles.
  2. Under Custom Roles, choose Create Role.
  3. Enter a Role Name and check the permissions it should have.
  4. Save.

The permissions you can choose from are:

  • Manage filing reviews, investor states or countries, SEC monitoring, and AI review
  • Read Only (turns off all edit rights, even if other boxes are checked)
  • Manage billing, plans, payment methods, and invoices (primary workspace)
  • Manage investors, contacts, and tasks
  • Manage raises and subscriptions
  • Prepare payments and payouts
  • Approve payments and payouts
  • Manage documents and signing templates
  • Draft investor updates
  • Publish investor updates
  • Invite team members and grant investor account access
  • Edit workspace, branding, and setup settings
  • See full investor tax IDs in reports and exports (otherwise only the last four digits)

Changing a custom role affects every team member who uses it. To delete a role, choose Delete. A role that is still assigned to members or invitations cannot be deleted, so reassign them first.

Change a team member's role

  1. Open Settings and choose Roles.
  2. Under Workspace Access, find the person and choose Edit Access.
  3. Pick a new Role in This Workspace, or choose Remove Workspace Access.
  4. Save.

Removing access takes effect on their next request. To add someone who is not yet on your team, invite them first. See How Do I Invite a Team Member?

Limit which records someone can see

A role controls what actions a person can take. To limit which records and sensitive fields they can read, use Staff Record Access. See How Do I Limit a Team Member to Specific Records?

Syndelo is in preview. eSign and investor payments require live provider setup; a demo or sandbox action does not complete a live transaction. Confirm availability for your workspace before relying on either.

Try It With Sample Data

Sign in to the shared demo workspace as a sponsor or as an investor. No signup, and nothing you do there sends real email or moves money.
