How Do I Check Imported Starting Balances Against My Old System?

After importing, go to Imports and use Check Starting Balances. Enter the balances from your old platform's capital account report, in dollars. Syndelo compares each one with the records you imported and lists every difference. Approving a check with no differences locks history through its date. A second person approves it. If no one else in your workspace can approve, you can approve it yourself after confirming your password and a code.

Steps

1. Finish your imports, with the full history through one date.
2. Open Imports and scroll to Check Starting Balances. After a data move, Check Starting Balances takes you there.
3. Enter the Platform you chose when importing, a Report Name, the Exported On date and the Balance Date.
4. Tick the Investments in This Report.
5. Add a row for each balance: the investment, the account, the balance (Commitment, Paid In, Capital Balance, Income Paid, or Cash on Hand for the investment), and the amount.
6. Or choose the report under Capital Account Report and click Fill the Table With AI. Syndelo reads the report and fills the rows. Check every row, and choose the account for any row without one.
7. Click Check Balances and review the differences.
8. Fix your imports and check again until there are no differences.
9. A second team member opens the check with View Check and clicks Approve Starting Balances. If you're the only person who can approve, you can approve your own after confirming your password and an emailed code.

Good to know

• Only the balances you enter are compared. Enter every balance the report shows.
• Income Paid is payouts other than return of capital.
• Don't add an opening balance on top of the same imported events; that double-counts.
• To compare every balance Syndelo tracks, use Advanced: Check Every Balance From a JSON File. Money there is in whole cents and units in millionths, and the check lists extra and missing keys.
• Approval locks money and pledge history through the date. Later changes must use a later date.
• Importing and checking doesn't send invites or move money.
• You need finance prepare permission to check balances and finance approve permission to approve. See Importing Data.
